Online Prescriptions

My Health Online - Repeat Prescriptions - will be superseded during April - July 2024 by the NHS Wales APP

With many pharmacies no longer ordering medication for patients, you may now need to take responsibility for ordering your medication.

The easiest and quickest way is to use the NHS Wales App (Click on NHS Wales App to take you to website).

Help page NHS login - NHS Wales App

You can also continue to use My Health Online to order your repeat prescription, but this system is being superseded by the NHS Wales App and will be decommissioned between April - July 2024.

Alternatively, you can bring your repeat slip to the practice or write a letter requesting medication if you cannot find your repeat slip.

Please allow 72 hours for us to process the request and allow your local community pharmacy an additional 24 hours to dispense your medication.

MY HEALTH ONLINE WILL ONLY BE IN USE UNTIL IT IS DECOMMISSIONED DURING APRIL - JULY 2024. IF YOU ARE REGISTERING FOR THE FIRST TIME TO ORDER YOUR REPEAT MEDICATION PLEASE USE THE NHS WALES APP

PLEASE REGISTER ON NHS WALES APP ABOVE

If you are not already registered to use MY Health Online you will need to complete the forms opposite and bring them to the surgery along with photo identification. The easiest way to register is via our website as you can upload the forms to avoid attending the surgery. You will then be issued with My Health Online registration details.  If you have already registered for My Health Online to make appointments this will also allow you to order repeat prescriptions.

After completing the registration process you can log into the My Health on line website:

https://www.myhealthonline-inps2.wales.nhs.uk

Click onto prescriptions on the left hand side of screen and a list of your repeat items will be listed.  Click onto the items you are ordering and then on the right hand side of the screen click on request selection, here you can also type a message if required.  When you have completed your order click on submit request.  User guide is available below.

When you receive your confirmation email from My Health Online please allow 48 working hours for the process to be completed.  You may see processed on the My Health Online prescription page but this does not mean that it is ready for collection.

Calendar

Annual Medication Review

As part of our ongoing commitment to your health, we undertake an annual medication review on all patients on repeat medication and with certain ongoing medical conditions such as asthma and diabetes. You should receive a form attached to your last prescription detailing when your medication review is due and what to do next.

Depending on the types of medication you are currently taking or your ongoing medical condition, you may be asked to have a blood test, a telephone consultation or a face to face consultation with a doctor, pharmacist or specialist nurse.

Repeat dispensing

For patients taking certain long term medication, we are able to offer repeat dispensing, whereby your repeat medication will be authorised for periods of 6 / 12 months. Your prescriptions will be held by your choice of pharmacy, where you can collect your medication without having to return to the surgery every month to submit your repeat request. Conditions qualifying for repeat dispensing at present include thyroid condition, HRT and diabetes. Other medication may be added in due course. However, it is only for those patients who are stable on their medication over a period of time. Please discuss this with a GP or pharmacist if you are interested in this service.

Other long term medication

Whereas repeat prescriptions are usually issued for one month's medication, we provide repeat prescriptions for longer periods eg. up to 12 months for certain medication, for example contraceptive pill.

Medicine Waste Management

We will periodically review your repeat medication and may remove items (eg. skin preparations, dressings and certain medication), which we believe you no longer need or you only need infrequently. Please speak to a receptionist, who can advise you on how to re-order if necessary.
